An Authentically Indigenous New Animated TV Series.
Beginning in a good way with a traditional First Nations ceremony, and guided culturally by Anishinaabe Elders, Wolf Joe’s producers gathered together a team of Indigenous storytellers, actors and music composers to create one of the world’s first authentic Indigenous animated preschool series.
Created by Alexander Bar in partnership and collaboration with Elder Dr Dave Courchene, knowledge keeper of the Anishinaabe Nation who has devoted his life to environmental stewardship, the series follows Joe, a young First Nations boy who, with his two best friends, Nina and Buddy, have fun-filled, kid-friendly adventures in Turtle Bay, a beautiful Ojibwe community in northern Canada.
Through superhero role play, Joe, Nina and Buddy are inspired and empowered by the universal values of the seven traditional teachings and the spirit animals of the Wolf, Bear and Lynx. And don’t forget Smudge, the cutest Husky puppy ever, who is happy to join our heroes, and occasionally needs saving himself!
This innovative show which was developed with TVOKids, promotes and embraces diversity, helping children everywhere to understand and celebrate their rich cultural differences as well as similarities. “Wolf Joe” also shares Ojibwe language in a delightfully easy way, empowers kids to play outside and demonstrates many important and universal human values. It turns out we are not all so different after all!

The series begins broadcasting in Canada on January 10th, 2021. Canadian broadcasters are TVO, SRC, TFO and Knowledge.
